Garden Design in Mallorca
From the first sketch to the final planting. An editorial process, not a catalogue.
What it is
Designing means reading the place.
Designing a garden is not picking plants from a catalogue. It is reading the place: orientation, soils, prevailing winds, available water, views, existing architecture, rhythm of use, privacy. Before drawing anything, we spend time on site, at different moments of the day. Without that reading, everything else is applied decoration.
We work with Mediterranean permaculture principles: making the most of the water that already enters the garden, living soils with no deep tilling, plants that want to be in Mallorca (not the ones that barely survive), layered vegetation with biodiversity, local materials that age beautifully. The final garden uses less water, less maintenance and holds more life than a conventional garden of the same size.
We design gardens for villas, estates, boutique hotels and terraces. Each project covers from an initial visit to delivery and first-cycle handover. We design from scratch on virgin sites, and redesign existing gardens that need new structure or deep renewal. If we execute the works ourselves, there is continuity between who draws and who plants. And if you also entrust us with the ongoing maintenance, we guarantee the planting establishment for the first year: any specimen that does not take is replaced at no cost.
How we do it
Four phases. From reading to handover.
STEP 01
Site reading
On-site visit, reading of orientation, soils, water, views, use. Open conversation with the client about intent and the garden's daily life.
STEP 02
Concept
Moodboard, planting palette, materials palette, spatial layout. Presentation to the client with sketch plans and visual references.
STEP 03
Technical plan
Final plan, planting schedule (species, size, season), materials specification, efficient irrigation plan. Closed written quote.
STEP 04
Build supervision
We coordinate execution (in-house or with the client's gardeners), supervise planting, deliver a first-year maintenance manual.
Styles we master
Languages of the Mediterranean garden.
We work in six garden languages, all compatible with Mallorca's climate and soils:
- Olives, cypress, lavender, rosemary, thyme
- Low-water, xerophytic plants, sculptural
- Silver and white tones, designed to be seen at night
- Phoenix, Washingtonia, Chamaerops, high shade
- Olives, citrus, herbs, Mediterranean fruits
- Dry garden, minimum irrigation, maximum biodiversity
Frequently asked questions
What clients ask us most.
- From the first visit to the technical plan handover, between 6 and 12 weeks depending on scale. A 1,000 m² villa sits at the lower end; a multi-hectare estate at the higher end. Subsequent execution is separate.
- We work on closed-project basis, not hourly. The range varies a lot with scale and detail. We give a first orientation range during the free initial visit and a closed quote after the site reading.
- Yes, optionally. If the client prefers, we execute the works ourselves (TerraLuxe Gardens). If they have their own gardeners or a trusted contractor, we hand over the plan and specs, and can supervise punctually.
- Living projects shift. We accompany the client with three review rounds included in the contract. Major changes after the technical plan is approved are quoted transparently.
- We deliver a first-year maintenance manual tailored to the garden. If the client wishes, we offer a regular maintenance plan via the Maintenance cluster.
